Leah’s family came to HCF Amarillo around 2014. Leah attends Abilene Christian University and majors in Youth and Family Ministry and English. Her dad Lyle serves as Life Group Pastor there. Her mom Shelli is the Associate Teaching Director with Community Bible Study in Amarillo and is also working toward her life coaching certification. Leah has a brother in McKinney, TX.
Who is your hero, and why? I’m hugely inspired by C.S. Lewis and his way of writing as well as his commitment to Truth with a capital T. I hope one day I can even come close to writing the way he does.
What “lesson from mom” do you still live by today? There is nothing like a mother’s wisdom and there is no one more “Proverbs 31”-inspired than she. I still think that the best lesson she taught me was that making your bed each morning will fundamentally change the whole rest of your day.
What’s your dream job? I’d have to say that next to being a published writer, my dream job would be to review movies (criticizing stuff for a living is the dream basically).
Which books have impacted your life most? One of the most life-changing books I’ve ever read is Mere Christianity (still C.S. Lewis, of course), and second on that list would be How God Became King by N.T. Wright, a fantastic treatment on the presence of the Kingdom of God on earth and how it manifests.
