Melissa and her husband Danny have been married for 28 years. They have 3 grown children and 5 grandsons. They first came to Harvest in January 2007, currently serve on the altar team, and lead a Life Group. Melissa is a Plainview native who enjoys experiencing beauty in God’s creation, whether it’s an autumn sunset or a morning sunrise, the expanse of stars on a clear winter’s night, or the vast wide open spaces only living in West Texas can provide. She is passionate about treating our bodies as temples with regular excercise, clean, healthy eating, and natural remedies God has provided for us. Her favorite hobbies include chasing her 5 grandsons, hopping on the back of her husband’s BMW motorcycle for an early morning ride, and slowing down long enough for the occasional good read.
Who is your hero? My hero is the wonderful man I married. He is my confidante, my protector, and my provider. He is my partner, my lover, and my very best friend.
What one event in your childhood had the greatest effect on your life? The one event in my childhood that had the greatest effect on my life was probably my parents’ divorce. But my brokenness has been healed by a merciful, gracious God who, through my healing, reaches out and touches others.
If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have? If I wasn’t doing what I do today, I’d probably be a sales clerk in a lovely little boutique somewhere in the hill country.
What “lesson from mom” do you still live by today? The lesson from mom that I do my best to still live by today is, “If you don’t have anything nice to say, then don’t say anything at all.”
