Brenda was born and raised in Plainview, Tx. She’s the oldest of six children. She first attended Harvest at the age of 10 with her family and from there on her family stayed planted in Harvest as their church. Brenda is wife to Andrew and she is a mother to their seven children, yes seven! Their ages range from almost 22 years old to the youngest who is nine. There is never a dull moment in her home with all these different personalities. Andrew travels the U.S. working in the electrical field of servicing transformers and she is a licensed cosmetologist. She recently quit working full-time to be a stay-at-home mom. Brenda enjoys traveling with her husband and doing spontaneous, fun things with her children. She enjoys reading books that help her build her relationship with God. She’s passionate about women’s ministries, especially to those from a hurt and broken past. She also has a passion for her children to know and love God, and to know who they are and what role they play in this world.
Who is your hero and why?
My hero, I would have to say, is my husband Andrew. This man loves big and is deeply committed to what/those he loves. He reminds me so much of God’s heart for us. He is a risk-taker and is not easily shaken in life. I love to watch him lead and love our family. His heart is definitely one that is trustworthy.
What childhood event has had the greatest impact on your life?
The event in my childhood that had the greatest effect in my life would be the birth of my oldest son when I was 14 years old. This event in my life taught me that God can use anyone, no matter what/where we come from. He can use your story for His glory if you will not allow the lies of shame to rule over you.
If you weren’t doing what you do today, what other job would you have?
If I wasn’t doing what I do today, I think I would be a lawyer/some type of advocate. Something about seeing justice win and the good prevail moves me. I don’t mind a good fight for what is right.
What is one “lesson from mom” that you still live by today?
One “lesson from mom” that I still live by today is to have a clean house and prepared home for my husband and children. I’m thankful that she taught me where we live is an important place and we should take care it, making it a pleasing and enjoyable environment to thrive in.
