He’ll Do It Again

I like to be in control of things. I like a clean, organized house. I like our finances to be in order. I like the yard to look nice and to know what is coming up on our schedule. I don’t like to be surprised. I like to be in control, and I like order!

However, there have been times in my life where I have had to surrender my control and order to the One who has it all under control! And if I’m being honest, He knows a lot more about that than I ever will!!!

Thinking back to our very first year of farming, God showed me that I didn’t have to have everything under control, and He would take care of us. One afternoon in late June, we were crushed by a hailstorm, and it left our 5-foot corn laying on the ground. We were devastated! I vividly remember watching my 20-year-old husband on his knees in the field looking at his ruined corn crop. I sat at the kitchen table wondering why God allowed this to happen. What were we going to do? We already owed money to the bank, so how were we going to pay them off if we didn’t have a crop? I had no idea how this was going to work out, and it was totally out of my control!

My husband immediately went to work to replant, and at the end of the year, we paid off the bank almost to the dollar that we owed them. There wasn’t anything left over, but at least we were able to pay off our debt.

It was at that time that God showed a young married couple that He is faithful, and we can trust Him! God showed up in such a way that we knew it was only from Him! There was no other explanation of how we paid out at the bank. It was GOD!!!

I wish I could say that was the last time we had a hailstorm or lost a crop, but after 42 years of farming, we have had several storms over the years. Each time we have a disaster on the farm, I think back to that first year and remember God’s faithfulness to us. There was a song that was popular back then, and I still sing it in my spirit when I want to be reminded of God’s promises to us during hard times:

He’ll do it again. He’ll do it again.

Just take a look at where you are now and where you’ve been.

Hasn’t He always come through for you, well He’s the same now as then.

You may not know how, you may not know when, but He’ll do it again!

God is bigger than my control! Often, I try to put God in a box and think that I have to solve the world’s problems or keep everything in a certain order. But when I surrender to God’s plan in my life, things turn out MUCH better! Ephesians 3:20 says that “Now to Him who is able to do far more abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the power that works within us,”

Why do I think I can do it better than God? Why do I think I have to have everything in control, when I can just trust God? I know I can trust God completely, because He has proven time and time again that He is trustworthy! He can do things BIGGER and BETTER when I surrender! He’ll do it again!!!
